FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
Question:
What should I do if my system is not working properly?
Answer:
Call Middletown Security Systems, Inc. We will be happy to assist
you and determine if you need a technician to service your alarm.
Question:
When do batteries need to be replaced?
Answer
The system battery in the alarm is rechargeable and is kept charged
automatically. In the event that your power is out for an extended
period of time, your battery may drain to where it will not recharge.
Normally our central station will receive a low battery signal and
notify you that your battery may need replacement. If you have wireless
sensors, the batteries are disposable. Your keypad will normally
display a low battery warning when a battery needs replacement.
Middletown Security Systems, Inc. keeps replacement batteries in
stock. You can always stop by and pick up a replacement anytime.
Question:
How do I change add or delete a user to my alarm system?
Answer
Depending on which system you have will determine how this is handled.
With most of our systems we can call your alarm panel and make the
changes from our office. This procedure is detailed in the users
manual for each type of system. Always call our central station
first before making any changes on your alarm. Our central station
will receive a signal of the programming change and to help elevate
any confusion, we ask that you call first.
Question:
What happens if I am on my telephone when the alarm goes off?
Answer
Our alarm systems are all equipped with a digital communicator that
is designed to "Seize" the phone line when it needs to
communicate with central station.
Question:
Why does my keypad display say "not ready"?
Answer
This simply means that your system is not ready to arm. This usually
means that you have a door or window open or a motion detector is
sensing movement. If you press the * key in the lower left corner
on your keypad it will tell you which zone is faulting.
Question:
Why does my keypad display read "no ac"?
Answer
Our systems require power for normal operation. Most of our systems
have a plug in transformer, please check to make sure that it is
still plugged in and all the wires are secure into the transformer.
Once the power returns the display should return to normal.
Question:
How do I bypass a zone?
Answer
One most of our systems you simply enter your four digit user code
and then press the the (6) bypass button and then the zone number
that you would like to bypass. Each time your system is disarmed
you will have to bypass the zone again, it will not keep it in memory.
Just press the * key to obtain the zone number that you want to
bypass, if you do not already know.
